Add mine(new to me in August) the ex-Mccollum( 77-2017) E/SA 66 SS L-79 to the list, I titled it in Mass, just picked up the # matching motor from the second owner, who raced it in B-Modified. F0108ZI the real deal.... Lee likely saw him at Dover, Joe Keller....sold car in 74/5 to a speed shop who pulled the motor and built a stock legal motor for A/S.........they deemed the .060 over # matching motor junk for their purposes and gave it back to him for his Tbucket project...... He kept it safe, never installed it, didn't want to tear it apart and mill the 12-1 pistons, so there it sat, and moved 1200 miles or so south with him to Florida..... Fast forward to 2020 and I get really really lucky and find him from a 1968 registration, get the racing story, pictures of this matching # motor, we strike a deal and I drove to florida last week, motor safely home. Met the old racer got a couple of photos, and even the M&H slicks and rims he used, and some other assorted original parts. Not your average story, in this most challenging of years, a nice National Dragster worthy feel good story! Eric

I know very well what happened to one of the L-79 cars, I had a blue w/black interior super sport L-79 in the early seventies and for some reason or another I pulled the engine and trans and put a 327 glide in it to run in stock eliminator. My wife, Sandra, drove quite a bit in that era and made a run in the car that turned really bad, she turned it over and totaled it. She was ok but the car was junk and I gave the roller to Sherman Adcock, Sr and he used as much of the skin as he could on his round track car. The original motor also went to a round track racer. It still hurts when I think about it but these cars were fairly plentiful in that time frame and I had a red SS L-79 not long after then. I have some pictures somewhere of the car after the after accident condition.
