Ed Wright remember those days??
Yes Sir!! Had a toggle switch on a bracket next to my shifter, high gear tripped that switch, turning the second set of points in my dual point distributor on, to retard the timing. I used 4 degrees.
Now, with my FAST XFI & crank trigger, I do it in my ECM. No switches to retard it. Now triggered by the RPM drop at the shifts. I found what high gear timing ran the most MPH, I add 4 in low gear, pull 2 of that in second, pull last 2 on the 2-3 shift.
I can shut that function off with a toggle switch on the dash. I leave it shut off in “bracket mode”. Only on if I need to qualify higher, or for a heads-up. Now, since I’m so old, I have try to remember if it should be on, or off. LOL
