Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
I 60' about the same as you, and I've always been a top hole guy. It puts more downward force on the spring.
I've also never tried to leave at nearly that high RPM. If I'm hitting the top bulb I'm at 3400, and the bottom I'm tuning my light with RPM and usually end up at 2900 or 3000. I could see the high RPM being a big part of your issue, or at least not helping.

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
thanks Lenny ,
I have played with 2 step , higher has always been faster . Maybe with the weight and tq of the 505 it just really wants the stiffer MT radial , at least off the brake . I think best sixty on Hoosier is 1.44 , 1.42 on MT but more consistently also . I run a .400 sportsman tree no box . Thanks for your time and thoughts . I will try foot braking , normally under 3000 with old 5000 converter . Otherwise save up and call my friends @ Summit . Heres my class 1st qualifier , I am 5th? . The only Plymouth Pretty ordinary from my usual pass It is a facebook link . https://www.facebook.com/OVOplay/vid...epa=SEARCH_BOX thanks again , Tex |

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
For a guy who was concerned about tire life in the first post, that burnout was way, way longer than I would consider necessary.
What is the goal of the class that you run? I understand that a higher launch RPM will typically be faster, but do you need to be faster? If not, I'd bring the RPM down quite a bit to soften the hit.

Re: Drag radial life/ max passes ?
Lenny that has been my normal type burnout for ages . I have found if I do a small "haze" burnout the car will always spin . Go figure . But i could try less ? I am concerned the more i spin up the more chance of breaking something The class is a 10.00-12.99 dyo . Usual story hit a goal you want to stay there . I doubt i can run for a few weeks now , but I want to try foot brake again . When i dropped 2 step not just slower but converter felt like winding up a rubber band . Tex |
