this is the point i was getting at when i started this post, was that there must be a better way of using the 2-step button. the way thet have written this new rule doesn't give you much to work with. they did not think about this to much when they made this rule. the only reason this was done was to try to mess with some of the hitters and take them out of there game, now they have some half *** rule that is potentially dangerous and shame on ihra for following nhra's lead on this crap. my .02

Of course, how would you run it? The only reason people cant run it in stock on a seperate button is because of all the people that bitched about it. Super stock rule is unchanged on that.

Andy, people voted on it and they just passed a new rule, why would they change it a month later? Do you think people feel different now? Did anybody buy the 1978 Sports Nats Video? None of the stick cars had a 2 step there? Whay do they need them now? Reason because it helps and makes it easier to race? The same reason why auto guys like running it.

I wonder how many people have their lawyer on retainer for when the guy in the other lane hits the brakes at the stripe, activating the 2 step, and he loses it at contact is made.I never liked the idea of 2 steps in Stock and with the new rule now I'm also a bit leary about the above senario.

Why would they change it a month later? They changed the ruling on blinders from nothing to something stationary. Maybe it was easy to change that rule because that one wasn't 'voted' on? Reason because it helps and makes it easier to race? Easy? Gee, I guess that's what sets me apart. I want to be in control of the car. I want the challange.I cut my teeth here: www.prostickracing.com. 78 Sports Nats. None of the stick cars had a 2-step there? Wish I was there! The 2 step rule I can live with. The 2 step switch on the brake pedal is an accident waiting to happen. Prime example of a rule implimented before going through the thought process. Andy Stone 1102 B/S |

Ed, I heard of guys using the 2 step to kill ET on the top end. I know of guys that have used it on the pedal for years and have had no problem. It isn't like throwing the car in reverse at 120 MPH. I would not loose sleep over it.
I am reverseing my posistion here but the stick guys should be alowed to use a remote button to activate the 2 step to make it easier to wire the car and shift it with out the 2 step coming on. I wouldn't mind that rule changing for those guys. Just can't wait for the season to start up here. I wonder how many people have their lawyer on retainer for when the guy in the other lane hits the brakes at the stripe, activating the 2 step, and he loses it at contact is made.I never liked the idea of 2 steps in Stock and with the new rule now I'm also a bit leary about the above senario. All I can tell you is that I asked several very specific questions of a couple of NHRA tech people, and was told the same thing. The rule, as currently written, allows for ONE switch, ONLY, mounted on, or activated by, either the clutch pedal on a stick car, or the brake pedal on an automatic car. I wanted to put a switch on the car to disable the two step if the car was not in 1st gear. There was no way to do it under the current rule. I think the rule is wrong, but it is the rule.
