Thank you all for the kind words of condolences and other messages I've received. I must also apologize I didn't mean to hijack the thread but thanks again.

I counseled my brothers and sister by saying to them -

"don't end up wishing you had called him yesterday"

Cool Re: "Live From" Maple Grove, NHRA Nationals

I made that mistake almost 13 years ago. I didn't call my mother on Sunday evening like I usually did, then the next morning about 7 AM at work, I got a call that her medic alert bracelet had been activated. Trying to return the call to her house, all I got were either busy signals or ringing with no answers.I took a drive over to the house and my brother's brother in law got there at the same time. We went in, and I found her lyng crossways on her bed. She had been gone only about an hour. I never had that final call with her. You just never know. Things like that happen, you try to get back to normal, but nothing will really ever be just the same.

With the weather swings from Thursday's triple H weather to Friday's overcast, fall weather, Saturday rain showers and onto Sunday's beautiful sunny warm day, it wasn't the easiest event to dial a car.

Hats off to the NHRA for their efforts to get the track dried and finish up on schedule on Saturday and the overall track prep. My car ran identical to thousand, 60 foot and 1000 foot ET from our last pass on Saturday, the 1/4 finals after 2 rain delays to Sunday's semi final about 24 hours later.

Congrats to all the winners and to my son, in his 2nd national event final of the season, a rematch from Epping two months earlier, on his first National event win. Just AWESOME!
