Ummmm, just saw the ad flyer for Onawa (Orec), “race weekend”: 22 bands, music til 5AM, 3 day music festival plus car audio competition !
Called 712 Boom Festival Jrs/SST/box/no box/ & more, plus our little S/SS shootout 3 day camping & music starts Friday at 4:30 Mini Woodstock? What could go wrong? |

Here's an aerial view of the facility. The music event is being held to the South of the race track (the extreme lower left edge of the picture). The racer entrance is from the North, the music event fans will enter from the South. So with the exception of some of the music fans buying a pass to come over and check out the racing, the track is treating this as separate events.
Mini Woodstock? In Iowa? Maybe call it 'Cornstock' ??? ![]() ![]()

Alan - Don't assume the Midwest is incapable of Woodstock-type debauchery. Ask any of us who've been around a while about the incident at The Zoo, many years ago, where the bottomless, totally inebriated teenage girl was "displayed" for the crowd. Suffice it to say that prior to that event, only her gynecologist had seen more detail. Just a bunch of innocent Minnesota farm boys and girls having a good time. |

Been there several times with the Hemi car. Track, facility, staff are all great...you won't be disappointed.

Looking forward to seeing a lot of cars this weekend, although my S10 wont pass for S/S.
They do have a decent PA system, but you can only hear it to about the scoreboards. The radio station should be functional. If youre coming from the south, take the Blencoe exit, then go north ALL the way to the Welcome to Onawa city sign. That is the north entrance. DO NOT enter from the south entrance,....it is a gravel road and not much room, if any, to turn around. Dont let the lack of grass fool you. The dust is relatively minimal. You may want to bring a mat/pitmat to park on if you expect to be working around or under the car. Clark Doukas Last edited by cad; 07-12-2019 at 12:19 PM. |
