Pretty sure I found the problem
The stock joint out of the column is starting to twist and binding up and has really tight spots as it’s wobbling as I turn it Time to tool up a new column for it |

The early Drag Pak Challenger (LC Platform) use the column with the articulating joint and a production rack & pinion with no power valving installed. This steering rack has a stock ratio and requires lots of input effort so it's hard to steer. The later Drag Pak cars (LA Platform) use a steering column with a typical slip shaft instead of the articulating joint. Flaming River makes a replacement rack & pinion PN FR1515MPR16 which requires a fabricated steering intermediate shaft which adapts the LA column to the Flaming River rack. This is the setup which all of the latest Drag Paks were built with and solve all of the issues with the setup that came on the LC platform cars.
