A number of guys have found that they had to reduce the clearance in the dingle arm, when going from 4-into-1 to tri-Ys. Those that didn't experienced terrible Sinusoidal Refleneration, which is exactly like radial wobble, but different.

Elston tri-y's are better everywhere on my 327 Stocker...down low, in the middle and up high. -Al

Glenn, I'm hesitant to post a number because all combinations are different. -Al

On your combination. And what were headers before the tri y's.Not asking for hp figures, just the increase.

Sure depends on your combo. A Stocker, since they foot brake, might like Tri-Y, or steps.
I realize I don't know much, much, but my 350" LT1 SS car hates that stuff. I talked to Jere Stahl about that a lot. He had me mail him dyno data and time slips, car weight, and data logs from passes at the track. He told me "for certain 1 7/8" primaries", and could very well like 2" (In decent air.) He said "there is no way that car wants step headers. We build some now, but I would not sell you a set for that car." His regular 1 7/8" headers were so much faster (Like a tenth & 1+ MPH) over my 1.5"-1 3/4" steps). At the time I could not afford to gamble on a set of his 2" headers that "it might like". I had a set of Hedman 1 7/8", but could not get all the plugs in & out, keep the wires off the tubes, and they hit the ground on landings, and had to jack the front of the trailer way up to get the car in & out. His were faster than those others, and everything cleared as well. By far the best headers I've had. His were the best & fastest on all my other cars over the years as well. I miss him. I made the mistake of shipping my Stahl headers to the west coast, after Jere passed, for some other header guys to build a jig for the '93/'97 LT1 Camaro/Firebird cars. When I asked for them back, they had cut them up.
