Duane, Unless they built one since last year, there is no "gate". You can get in there anytime and park if there is no one at the pay booth. You just go up after the pay booth opens, pay, and get your tech card. This has always been a good, well attended race. See you there!

Yes, Mr. Taylor is correct. There is no gate there.
One would think that after twenty-three straight years going to this race I would know better lol.

A few items about the races.
~Both days are random pairing for first round. Cars will be laddered both days for second round based on winning reaction times of round one. If a tie, closest to the dial-in will get the higher spot on the ladder. If still a tie, the racer doing it first will get the higher spot. ~ Bye runs do not have to be made. No taking the tree, breaking the beam, etc. This is from a deal that happened there one year in the semifinals of Super Pro. The first pair ran, there was smoke on the top end. They shut the bye-run car off in the waterbox. All was fine a minute or two later. They told the bye run to restart. The car would not start. So the racer lost on a bye-run to the finals. I thought that was silly so we changed the rule for us the next year. If you come up to get paired up and have the bye, you may return to the pits or remain in the lanes if it is a round-robin situation. ~First round bye run chosen at random on Saturday and best reaction time on Sunday. ~There are no heads-up Class Runs. This is due to lack of scales, fuel check, etc. All cars must dial the Class Index or quicker. IHRA/old NHRA Indexes are used.

We are staying at The Comfort Suites in Hagerstown. Probably the closest motel to the track. Bobby Fazio is great at finding good motel deals, hopefully he will chime in.
Comfort Suites 1801 Dual Highway (U.S. 40, same road as the track) Hagerstown MD 21740 (301) 791-8100 Several motels in the area offer a discount if you mention Mason-Dixon Dragway

Booking.com has been my new go-to for hotel deals. Right now there are two near the track for $55/night Days Inn and $53/night Super 8 and both have free breakfast while there are a few other nice options in the $75-85 range too!
This link should get you $25 credit back after your stay. I snagged a small motorhome a few years back so I haven't had to get race weekend hotels in a while but I started using this site for other travel over the last year. Anyways, I won't be able to make the race this year as stocker motor is out and apart (First time since 2012) and Super Stock motor broke the timing belt with minimal damage (Thank you Lord) but coming apart regardless. Good luck to all, this is a great race and an amazing bang for the buck! My money is on the Bob Bender or Lew Silverman wagons, I had a dream a wagon won..just saying. |

There will be test and tune on Friday November 2, from 5:30-9:30. Car and driver is $35. I am planning on doing a race for us that evening. Probably $50 entry. This will count for points for our series, to make up one of the two rained-out races of ours. The points for our series is still wide open. You may join, for $25. Top three points finishers will receive money.
