The one with the most teeth on the pinion would be my choice.
Pinion, That is where the failure usually starts...

Just took my 4.30 pro gear out. Went with 4.88 pro gear as I have been running 1/8 mile. Car is 3360 lb. w/trans brake, w/sbc and with 220 runs they are perfect and quite. I would sell them cheap if interested.

I stand corrected. I just checked mine in box and it is 4.33 ratio. 9 pinion and 39 ring gear. Car has been 9.0s with 1.32 sixty on 10 inch tire and gears look excellent

You know what, I didn't think deeply enough when reading that. I would go with FEWEST teeth on the pinion gear. That means the teeth that are there, are thicker/stronger.
Sorry for the confusion!

As the pinion gear gets more teeth on it the diameter usually increases.
That increase in size has an effect on increasing the root width and diameter of the gear teeth. You need to check it to be sure, but it is usually the case. Ask an old Modified or Gas racer which gear set held up better. Dana 6.50 or Dana 6.17. 6.17 had a larger diameter pinion gear.
