Root for them. Give the kid a ride to the lanes.

Might be tough at national events that spread over days. Just a thought.
Even just sitting in the pass. seat of a Stocker with open headers while warming up could be a thrill for some young kids

Hec, It was a thrill for me when I was just standing next to the new 68 Hemi Cudas at 18. From 65 to 72 was a great time to be alive if you liked race cars.

S SS/ racing at industrial parks throughout the USA. Plenty of racing. Low overhead. Big HP cars will need to learn how to hook. Retired cars seeing the sun again. Results every Monday night on the Discovery Channel. We'll be able to say HI! to mom and our wives. Sponsorships from Jet.com to Pep Boys, Popeye's to Miller and local stations too. Everybody wins and NHRA has their own circus. IT'S TIME! BIG ANCHOR STORES DYING.INTERNET STORES GROWING BIGGER AND FASTER. NHRA IS A DINOSAUR.

One of the first things i made sure of.. And i have to thank ROb Hyatt for it.. Was all the kids had ear plugs and or headphones made available. Some kids have sensory issues so we made accomodations for them and had headphones supplied.. The one thing that i learned last year.. Because it was hotter than the 3rd level of hell the day we went.. Was i need to have more water than what we brought. Again it takes all of you.. If you just keep bitching and complaining.. It does nothing.. Set yourselves apart from the crowd..

At Seattle a few years ago I was sitting in the stands with a whole group of young girls and three lovely moms in front of me. The half dozen or so girls ranged from maybe seven or eight years old to mid teens. Two of the moms seemed to be reading Danielle Steele novels rather than watching the races. I assumed they were racers family.
I asked one and nope, her daughter wanted to go and she wasn't going to just drop her at the gate. Her daughters friends and their mothers all came as group.
The daughters watch the races on TV and root for the women. They would disappear and come back with signed stuff from the Force girls and Erica Enders. I pointed out to them they missed a bunch of ladies, that Jackie Alley and Ashley Sanford and half the Super Comp drivers were around too.
I think they thought there may be just a few female drivers.

When I was that age I wasn't aware of any girl who would have decided on their own to go to the track. Good for them, we need more like them. It sometimes seems that even with a bunch of Jr Dragsters the average age of everyone at the track is still 50! If the Jr's left it's over 60!

Have a sign up sheet so they would know who is available. NHRA would then reserve pit space near the pro's for those that participated. Also while showing off the cars the racers could hand out discount coupons. This would get the cars and racers in front off the public. And with their commercials promote these car shows.

Jeff
NHRA had tech in store parking lots and malls at least throughout the 70's.Why they stopped, not sure.
More super tracks with more room, possibly?
Problem today is with the size of the rigs, and everybody wanting preferred parking.
First rig numbered at the mall would also have to be the first to leave for the track, in order to maintain that sequence.
Only guy that I know that could handle it another way, is Redman.
Unfortunately, we know the story there.

Mark
Doing this would take the cars to the people and not cost them (spectators) a thing. Who knows maybe the nearby businesses would give some perks to the racers showing their cars and bringing in the extra traffic. Got to set the hook first. Maybe 6 or so cars whatever the parking lot and pits near the Pros can handle. I think it can be done.

The area tracks could do the same, small entry fee, not much payout if any. They run by themselves, put on a great show, fans love it, racers love it everyone wins. In my area of 150 miles I think there's at least 12 tracks, most 1/8 mile, maybe three 1/4. Plenty of possible sponsors. Even the local bracket racers would be in awe. Can't be much payout, then the cheating will start. 1/8 mile might make it harder to slam the brakes. Run Sunday's, be at the car shows on sat. WOW.

I think most of the ideas mentioned here have merit. I'd be willing to participate. We did have lots of people walking around the cars when we use to go to mall parking lots in the past. Hey NHRA are you seeing this.

One possible way to do this.
Put one qualified person in charge of this. (i.e.Redman)
Racers would volunteer to do this. They would have to call or email in advance to register.
Find a mall nearby.. For instance , the outlet mall just north of Wild Horse Park.It just happens to be owned by the same people who own the track.
Have the show on the day before actual parking begins.
After the show, those racers would be allowed to get in line for parking, the night before.

Do I think NHRA or the tribe would allow and pay someone to do this?
Not a chance!
