I have Harland Sharp on my engine combo that's the same as yours.

I think the comp cams setup is very nice but a bit overkill on a lower hp 396. Also pretty pricey when you have buy the complete kit to get the 1/2" studs because they come with new 1/2" trunions etc. As you can buy the XD rocker arms setup for 1/2" studs already.

The studs are available without the trunions and bearings and rebuild kit

comp 4543-16

overkill? depends upon how "square" of a lobe you are using and if one is "cheating" (who would do that) and is using a larger dia lifter to take advantage of that increased "rate"

edit..I understand Crower has a stock package out also...I have never seen that setup yet
