Did the LD340 come on the 340's in question? Answer: No.

End of story.
Oh, but those Edelbrock heads and roller rockers without Chrysler part #'s did come on 340's?? I love purity as much as the next stock eliminator racer but that ship powered by a blown hemi with a powerglide and a 9" sailed long ago!

Come on Chrysler guys, you can say it! S.T.O.C.K. E.L.I.M.I.N.A.T.O.R.
Billy ,
While we have only met one time in person I think in Pomona I just want to take this opportunity to Thank you for bringing this to the attention to some racers who might have not otherwise have known this as NHRA does not post when they make a change in the guide with the acceptance of alternative parts .
I think this is one of the reasons why it becomes a personal agenda to some racers knowing they can get something done without everyone looking under thier dress .
I still don't understand why it's not posted when they make changes like this it would probably stop a lot of the fuss .

Gordie, Valid response.
So , the obvious answer is...JUST STOP the changes, NHRA

We still don't know why they saw fit to add a 50 year old Edelbrock manifold to a specific combo, nor who asked for it , or why.
Scarcity of original parts is no excuse.
Older cars have been becoming obsolete since this all started.
Try building a 50 Olds, starting today.

Jacko, Anyone who ever thought about building and/or racing in D-H/S has a stake in this, or as Billy said, anyone who has to qualify against them.

JUST STOP, NHRA

There is already enough bogus stuff in the specs and replacement parts category that has become the mainstream that it will be virtually impossible in the current venue to correct, so adding to the list doesn't help anybody. If a spectator looks under the hood of a Stock Eliminator car, it should not look like a bracket racer's engine or a Super Stock engine. When Stock Eliminator becomes so diluted from the original definition that it is not discernable from other categories of racing, then it will be absorbed, eliminated or meaningless. If anything, it would help to move back to originality, to production specs and accurate policing so that there is a more unique identity to market.
I'm OK with having original specs .......just how far back do you want to go??I started almost at the beginning and there was just as much pissing and moaning then .As for cheating - like I said before even the iron ones are not stock anymore .As for qualifing - that's a whole different story - and in the end we all have to race each other so does it matter? It's all about getting a light and running your number ! ! ! Billys' BS about who he has to run doesn't hold water in my book.

As for the spectators most don't know what a Stocker engine looks like and even if they did there are so many aftermarket parts under our hoods that a manifold isn't going to make any difference in appearance.

Then why do we bother to qualify?

With all do respect but MOPAR has had advantages over other makes for years.

Specific to the 340 they came with stamped steel shaft rockers the Crane aftermarket rocker has been legal for a loooong time. Way way better than stud mount rockers with or without the Crane part.
What is the roller rocker upgrade for the 340? Jesel?

If the cast iron and aluminum manifolds flow the same out of the box are the wet flow characterisitics the same?
Aluminum is a lot easier and cheaper for undercover work.

So in the name of fairness and a level playing field, is the same effort going to be put forth to rein in all the past changes and enhancements for other combo's in the guide that are being put forth for this intake manifold??

You want NHRA to stop the changes now in the name of stock class purity, but we both know that NHRA couldn't give a rats *** about the purity of Stock Eliminator as proven by the last 9yrs..its all about the $$$. Would seem to me that Stock Eliminator should be re-named to Stock Appearing Eliminator.

I don't know much about it,but it seems that the "Pure" Stock class may be some people's best bet.

Jack, I can probably go back as far as you can. And if it doesn't matter, then why not get rid of all the bogusness? It would surely not be any harder or more expensive than it is now, and it would open some opportunities for new competitors who are daunted by the $$. The argument that it's already screwed up so it doesn't matter doesn't hold water for me. That's like saying because the government has always been corrupt that we should just put up with it. Stock Eliminator does not have anyone fighting for it so we can either pick up the fight or let it get eaten by apathy and disdain.

Hi Jack,

It does appear that you have evolved......

The problem is that you evolved into Pro ET Eliminator, just like you said "It's all about getting a light and running your number ! ! !"

What ever happened to HEADS-UP in the Eliminator.....So much for "It's all about getting a light and running your number ! ! !"

What ever happened to National Records..........So much for "It's all about getting a light and running your number ! ! !"

What ever happened to Class Racing...........So much for "It's all about getting a light and running your number ! ! !"

What about qualifying......So much for "It's all about getting a light and running your number ! ! !"

I guess this is what happens when we allow the camel to get his nose under the tent flap.....

Nothing but the slippery slope is left....

You have sure come a long way from Junior Stock,
Bob
