If you like old fire trucks, there's the Hall of Flame Museum in Phoenix. I'm probably a little biased, as a retired firefighter, but it's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon soaking-up some local history.
If you have the time you might want to check-out Loper's Performance on East Indian School Road (very near I -10). A lot of history there as well, and they may have more information on automotive-related events in the area. Enjoy your trip!!
