They were almost all small cubic inch, stick shift cars
Screaming water box RPM`s
and dry hops to the starting line
The high RPM launch and gear changing was very intense
Todays cars are much smoother...and faster
but automatics don't quite replicate it
There is a SS/K Shoot-out video on YouTube, though not MP,its worth watching

Afraid not. And I'm already well on the way to correcting the indignities it has suffered over the last 40 years. Taking it all the way back to 1975.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago if we are talking about the same car. Butch Leal's 1975 B/MP Direct Connection Hemi Duster. Pictured as bought below.

You guys are each talking about different cars. The Leal Dart Sport S/S car that Gale Mortimer drove is on Racing Junk right now also in Virginia.

Looking at the plexi windows and window trim and other "subtle" details make me wonder if this car is actually a "knock off" ..........and not the original.
The car in the vintage pics has factory door windows? and drip mldg ......decals have been replaced etc etc. Is that the original scoop , looks very similar but...nose seems high.....?
The Gummout" decal on the current car is smaller............
