stock gm computer cars
what is the trick to making these modern 1998-2001 f bodies (more) consistent. I have a 01 v6 car that I use to travel out of state to bracket race and 7 out of 10 passes it is predictable ( .03/.04), but then it will slow a tenth or a tenth and a half two passes in a row and then jump back the other direction and run the quickest of the day. I'm not familiar with the preparing these computer cars. I try to keep the car at normal operating temperature and traction isn't a problem. I would just like to be able to keep it in the ballpark so I can give myself a shot each time down the track.

My son runs a cooler stat/ Programmer to start fans earlier and lean
out fuel mixture / Ices throttle body. He has won several track championship with it. He also uses drag radials.

This might be the anti-knock sensor, which will retard the timing as the engine gets hot, then returns to normal after a cool down. If you don't want to spend $ on a programmer or aftermarket ECM, you might get away with simply running higher octane fuel.
Maybe add a switch that lets you run the electric fan at will, especially when the engine is off.

Re: stock gm computer cars
On my 06 Magnum I was keeping track of intake heat (harbor freight heat gun) and ET. After awhile a pattern was showing. It did help a lot dialing later in rounds. Not perfect but helpful.
