I have a grease board that I have split into "I owe" and "they owe" in my garage and I also use it in my trailer. I include the name, the part and the date on it and it has worked very well.
My friends and I are in that over 50 club and this works very well. I have actually had a friend notice his name on the board and mention that he had forgot about the lug nuts that he had borrowed and he returned them the next day. It is a cheap and easy way to help with borrowed parts, if you remember to write them down.
