Default Re: Why don't more people run Super Stock Trucks?

I have always liked the trucks and wondered why so few are out there. Seems like the truck index's are favorable also.
At one time i thought of putting my ss/cs combo in one for ss/tc. Then I read a article about Jeff Taylor where here talked about all the different race cars he has had. He said the truck was the worse race car he ever owned. Can not remember the reasons but that made me think twice.

While only a bracket vehicle, the biggest moneymaker I ever raced was a 92 f-150 reg cab 8ft box. 300 six/e4od/3.08 gear with fairly narrow 15" tires. (tried wider and they spun) I would pre stage at 2000, creep in to fully staged and on the second yellow mat it for a .510-.560 light. I didn't find wind bothered it too much as the mph was slow. Was deadly consistent. Heat didn't effect it in the later rounds. Don't remember the times but I think was low 17's. Won LOTS win it.
Visability was EXCELLENT either looking out the back window or in the huge towing mirror or out the window. The only downside was the same as any slower vehicle, most go by you 30-50mph faster.

Short overhang on the front, excellent visability, lots of room to work on engine, room for as big of a rad as you need, solid frame/minimal twist if you do have power, biggest brakes you could want(drum or disc)

Seems like the guys who run a truck are happy with them so they must have any chassis/weight problems figured out.
My 67 camaro needs updating and thought about a truck before cutting this car up.
Any Super stock S10's for sale out there?
