Some more info from Jim Henderson and his 65 Chevelle Stocker. Jim said the car had one of the "Stahl-Bars" traction bars on it when he got it. Jr Stock fans will remember this well. Jim said it had to be removed as it was deemed to be "ballast". Jim says the car has connections to SRD and was a Modified Production car for a while. And more history about Jim - he is an ex-NHRA Tech Official. I first heard of "Pittsburgh Jim" though the late Lee Sherman who was one of the great people that helped me when I started in Stock in the early 70s. Jim recalled tossing Lee for the camshaft in his R/SA 66 Chevy at the 74 Summernationals. Jim said Lee was good with that, and he respected Jim for making the tough but right call.
Here is Jim and son Scott. BTW, this Chevelle has such a rich "I've been a race car forever" patina that makes you stop dead in your tracks to check it out and just smile. And if you want to smile too , check out Robz's video of this car at the Class Nationals.
