I don't think he meant it that way. I think he's asking, Does the alternator connect to the same side of the switch as the battery, or to the opposite side of the switch?

I'm thinking the same side as the battery, that way when the switch is off there's no chance that the alternator will continue to power the engine and fuel pump. But I don't know for sure, it's been a very long time since I've run a car with a trunk-mounted battery.
