With today's tires and track prep the old days of a dry hop to just clean them may be all that is needed.

In the last few years I no longer do a stationary burnout. I pull through and out of the water, Spin the tires toward the line and stage. Just make sure tires are clean and dry.

Doing the above I have won many rounds with consistent performance.

That's what I do with my Pure Stocker.
Just spin enough to clean off anything I picked up driving thru the pits.
