Dick Landy 'Q & A'

In looking through this entire thread no one mentioned the FORD that Dick Landy ran in early 62. It was a 406 tri power stick shift? liteweight car. There is a picture of it on the website by George Klass. The photo is from Muscle Car Review 1/88. I know Dick got all his fame in Dodges, but he did have a Ford briefly.

Dick's '62 was not one of the 11 lightweights Ford put together for Indy in 1962. It was a standard "steel" car but it may have eventually had some over the counter lightweight parts. Ford did sell a lightweight "kit" over the counter.

Dick also ran a '61 390-401 Starliner from what I've been told. So there was a bit of blue oval in Dandy Dick's background...

After that, a 1963 Max Wedge Plymouth. I have a photo of it somewhere...

"Landy was one of drag racing's first "factory" drivers, wheeling a 413 Max Wedge Plymouth to ever faster and faster quarter mile runs. In 1964 he moved to a 426 Wedge Dodge..."

Thanks to Mopar68 and Charlie A for adding the photos of Dick's 62 Ford and 63 Plymouth. I have the 63 Plymouth in Hotwheels did a few years ago. It is part of a old school drag strip diorama that features about a 120 cars and trucks.
