We are having trouble with Jerico clutchtype 5-speed going from 3rd to 2nd gear, when upshifting to 4th. Shifter is LONG and it stucks in the vertical slot and 2nd gear goes in.
Car is year 2000 B/Stock Firebird LS-1. It is correctly adjusted with 1/4 pin. Any ideas? Last edited by SSJ343; 07-25-2014 at 03:38 AM. Reason: Wrong shifter Brand in title |

If you shift it slowly does it work correctly? Is there anything rubbing or holding on the 2 springs that pull down? A problem with the springs that pull down on the lever would be my only thoughts, you can call out to long and see if they have any ideas ran their shifters for years and never once had an issue. Good luck Joe

I have the same shifter but a G-Force 5 speed. Last season I had something like this happen, but the shifter linkage hung in-between gears. Trans went from 4th to 3rd if I recall and the shifter would not move. I found the shifter loose on the trans mounting bracket. You did not find the 2 shifter mounting bolts loose when pulling the trans?

Update. It seems that it will stuck in vertical slot. Vertical slot is .440 wide and the shaft is .437. Only thing, that keeps two halves of shifter inline is the two bolts mentioned in Seans reply. These bolts are fully threaded and halves can easily move more than .003 clearance allows.
We widened this lower vertical slot to .452 (same measure as upper vertical slot is!). Bolts were replaced with ones, that have straight portion above thread and they seems to force shifter halves in line. We will see if it works next weekend. On table it seems to work fine. This is brand new equipment and has less than 15 runs on. It has stuck 3 times now. Thank you all about comments and messages. Last edited by SSJ343; 07-25-2014 at 03:43 AM. Reason: Typo |

Actually it is Jericos own shifter. They proposed, that driver is not releasing the trigger.
Modification of slot did not help. Now we added some side clearance and stiffer springs. There is also a video camera recording what happens there. |
