Default 81 Malibu front tire size

I have a 81 Malibu bracket car. I am wanting to put 28" tall front tires on it. Does anyone know if I will have clearance issues?? No front inner fender wells at this time. Thank You.....

I've never had a 28 on mine, but a Moroso 7.10 which is 27.75" and it touched the liner a bit.

The Moroso 7.10 seems narrower by design though.

'78 Malibu has run 28" Hoosiers [18107] and now 28" Moroso DS-2 [17028]...no clearance issues at all!

When I had 28 inch tires on mine and when it left hard it would rub on the inner fender well when the springs were at the end of their life and the shocks were loose.

I used to run the old moroso 8.10. They were just over 29 inches if I remember right. Front of Fender was trimmed but still caught on sharp turns . On the wheel stand it would rub the tops of fender well. Changed those inners every year. Also cut and reformed the inner fender just above the lip. Good thing they were plastic. Now have 27.5 MT's. Way less trouble. The Oldsmobile uses a much better shaped inner fender and prob would not have caused as much heartburn.
