I just read an article in Hot Rod or Popular Hot Rodding about copies being made and how you can spot them. They showed fake MSD 6AL boxes along with several other products made in the US. There are scumbags out there trying to make money using a known brand name and selling copies to unsuspecting buyers. Don't blame the original manufacturer, they are getting hurt by this as well as the consumer.

That's what happens when the OE mfg gets stuff made overseas, the guy across the street makes knock-offs, sells it for half the price. It ends up biting the OE mfg in the azz. Not to mention it confuses the consumer, and in time after hearing of many problems, he decides to stay away from that style of product altogether.

1720 / Mr Talbot, with all due respect, the post you copied verbatim from Russell was originally written and posted in August 2010 on MSD's homepage. More recent searches have led me to believe almost all of the boxes are now made in China or are assembled from Chinese boards. Several guys at the track have new MSD boxes with made in china stickers as plain as day on them. I dont want to start an internet fight, and if my information is wrong, I apologize. But Bob if you are considering purchasing a new MSD box, I would just call them up and ask them flat out, yes or no, is the model # box you are considering manufactured in China or not, and if they state its assembled in the us, specifically ask if the printed circuit boards are made in China or the USA.

Good luck Bob, and best wishes.
