I'm looking for spark plug recommendations on a 427 BBC street/strip motor with GMPP aluminum heads, 10:1 compression, .570 lift flat tappet cam. Using a mixture of premium and race gas. I'm hoping for actual part numbers, not just a brand preference. Of particular interest is the heat range suggested, as well as whether I need a .460 or .750" reach. Thank you in advance.

Ben,
Edelbrock calls for a Champion RV12YC They make the heads as far as I know so that should be a good starting point.

RC12YC Champion. It's 0.750" reach, projected tip, and 5/8" hex. Easy to find, affordable, reliable, and consistent.

Alan; Bill,
Thank you for your replies. I have one follow-up question: I notice that both of these are "resistor" plugs. Are resistor plugs better than non-resistor plugs in a hi performance application, or doesn't it matter? Thanks -Ben |
