Stock GT or Crate Motor (Engine)?
Just doing some thinking outloud on what to do with the truck. The v-6 can be fast and qualify well, but it is not very consistent to race. I was thinking about stock GT or Crate Motor. I know the real solution is to get the 305 engine approved for NHRA, but that is a pain in the ***.
Does anyone have any recomendations for IHRA stock GT combinations or crate motors? Thanks, Chris Hill 3383 Q/SA |

Re: Stock GT or Crate Motor (Engine)?
Chris, I Like U Have Thought About A Truck In Stock Gt. I Guess The First Question Would Have To Be, Are U Sure That Ihra Will In Fract Let The Truck Fall Into Gt Stock. If So I'll Give You The Engine That I Have Thought About. The Most Common One Would Be The 1968 Factory 300 Hp 350 C.i. Small Block.2. Second One Would Be A Low Po Version Of The 400 Cubis Inch Small Block. , And Lastly And The One That I Thought Would Be The Neatest One Would Be A Lo-po 454 Cubic Inche Big Block. Believe Like A 1971-1972. Do You Know What The Factory Shipping Weight Of Your Truck Was With A V8. Just Another Thought....will Ihra Accept "corporate Gm Egine" In Gt Stock. If So, That Would Open Up More Opportunities For You. Myron Stutes X-nhra 3195 N/& L/k Stock Stick Chevelle Wagon

There was a really nice black S-10 running crate motor stock at Clay City. I can't remember the name, but I believe he came with the New Haven Connection (Morris/Clark) teams.

chris stock GT would B the way to go... something like a dish piston (or flat top) 305 in that truck would put it in one of the lower classes where their is NO ONE! & if I know you guys it would be damn fast anyway!! LOL
