RJ DUDEK - That was my car, ex Tim Richards Competition Torqueflite. Bought the car in late 69 from JT (what we called Tim Richards), ran it as SS/FA til end of year. Switched over to C/SA for 70-72. We ran it in stock til 72 when we sold it as I picked up a sponsor, Pompey Dodge, and he wanted me to run a new 71, 340 Demon. On the 64, I must say, "That Dog knew how to Hunt".

RJ: Got to know Jerry and later Pete, never got to meet Al. Learned a lot from Jerry. We used to race together at Island most every Sat night. Got to know Pete later in 74-75 when I raced S.Stock. Have many a good memories from Sat. night at the patch, my home track.

"The last test was late in the summer at Ubly Dragway up in the thumb of Michigan with Herman Mozer driving. Again the brakes were a big problem and we were pouring water over the drums to cool them down to the extent possible. At the end of a 123+ mph run the right front locked when Herman touched the brake pedal. The car left the track and tripped, going end-over-end into a plowed field. The car landed on the left front corner of the roof, which came in only six inches.
![]() These were the days of racing in a tee shirt and just a lap belt. Herman was unhurt but seriously shaken. The test did determine that at last Goodyear had a tire that matched the M & H tire, but we kept the Goodyear rubber on the M & H carcasses. ![]() We requested a replacement car from Dodge but it was not to be, because the ‘63s were out of production and all that were built were sold. We turned to our sponsor, Hodges Dodges, requesting a white 2-door sedan with a six-cylinder automatic. They found one and we purchased it. Dodge did come up with another set of aluminum sheet metal parts. Two weeks before the Summer Nationals, I took the good car racing somewhere on the East Coast while a crew worked in the shop converting the six-cylinder into a race car. We had time to letter the car but no time to paint the stripes. . ." --Mike Buckel http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-b...=9990447540617 M68
