Ok here's my dumb question and it's not to be funny, it's seriously because I don't know - why don't these factory powerhouse race cars come with wheelie bars and proper valances to accompany them? I understand that no factory driver comes with wheelie bars but these are factory race cars. At least make a bumper to accompany wheelie bar add-on and then no cutting, notching, etc. is required.

I was thinking the same thing. For what they cost,it should be included.Might as well have a factory installed parachute too.

Both could not hurt. Then, no questions.

What do you mean made the necessary repairs and then ran two more races? So after the phone call you fixed the car, ran two races, and then they told you that wasn't good enough? Or you fixed it, they still sent the letter because they assumed that you hadn't? I'm confused.

This is coming from someone who bracket races all the time, and would love to convert my street driven Trans Am into a stocker, that's why I'm curious.

I can't imagine wanting to spend the money you guys spend and then get treated like you do. However, it sounds like to me this is a petty gripe. From what I've read, one of two things happened. Jack was told to fix it and didn't, slid by two races so he assumed he could keep sliding by, then got caught. Or he was told to fix it, did in fact fix it, but just wanted to come on here and gripe about the letter he felt like was a few weeks late.

No disrespect at all. I hardly ever post here, just lurk, but I just feel like the entire story hasn't been explained in a single post yet.

I just reread some of your posts. Maybe I misread them? Maybe you fixed it and it still wasn't to their liking? I'm just trying to get a clear story as moving from brackets to class racing was looking appealing. Just unsure of how you got a call weeks ago, did some type of repair, but then act like you had no clue this was coming?

OK , since you're new to this I'll try and clear it up .First of all I did make 'repairs' and after a few races changed their minds is my best guess .I do have a pic but its on my 'smartphone' and I'm not smart enough yet to transfer it to the Internet but thats a story for another day .

Second -- since you don't know me its like this - if you're me you can't slide anything by as I'm watched like a hawk .Just ain't gonna happen .Maybe its because they don't trust pre-owned vehicle salesmen .Or maybe I learned a thing or two since ......ah , 1969 when I started .I'm just not sure .....

Next we'll talk about you're TransAm - seems I've got a little experience with them .You won't have to cut your rear valance - wheelie bars work fine on them .More info - let me know- I'll be glad to help you out .

Im still trying to figure out why we even need wheelie bars ? The starting lines have been so bad at the last few Nat event races not even a bulldozer could hook !! : )

Bernie - Sorry but the one you own ( that was built by Tommy Goldman of GAS Racing ) isn't the one that got the LT1 the 11 hp you spoke of .But its a fine car as you know from the races its been at over the years .It was built as a developement car for our team at the time and paved the way for the 11hp .

Bobby,I would imagine they dont because there's a bunch of wheelie bar designs out there (including mono bar) that it wouldn't be cost effective to stamp out different valances. It's easier for the owner/chassis guy to fab the cutouts.
