Bill Hudson owned and raced the car. He was a Bowling Green resident(Richardsville KY actually, a small community outside Bowling Green). Above is a cropped picture from the auction flyer with his name on the door glass. I knew a guy who visited his home and he told me the car has a Cutlass VIN. I went with him out there one time. He had a burgandy 66 tri power car that also sold at the auction. Mr. Hudson initially had a rallye red 70 w-30 post coupe that was hit while on a trailer on the side of Interstate 65. He sold several parts off the red car. I actually have the trunk off that red w-30. Its rust free but warped from the accident. The red car was totalled and evidently Mr. Hudson purchased former Dover car. I think he may have put several parts off the red w-30 post car onto this one. You will notice that the car above has red inner fender wells. I always thought the 442 fender emblems were too far up on the fender but maybe the paint tricks it out. But its a Cutlass not a 442. The car sold for either $6500 or $8500 I was told. They couldnt get it started until after it sold although still at the auction site. Im only now seeing Sammy's previous post about the car. I never knew it was a W-31 which may explain the red inner fender wells after all. I remember Mr. Hudson telling me the car came from Louisiana. Mr. Hudson was also a avid Kentucky Wildcat fan. One we tried to go out there to look at the cars and buy parts and he run us off as the Wildcats were about to play. I took some personal pictures of this car in the 80s. I witnessed Mr Hudson run this car at Beech Bend a few times. I remember an ET of 11.70.

The older gentleman (can't recall his name offhand) that owned had passed away, but had previously raced it at the Bowling Green races some years ago. Was it an original 4-4-2 or a clone made from a Cutlass? I wondered because I recall it having a standard (non cut-out) rear bumper.

I had the pleasure of visiting with Bill (Fuzzy) Hudson several times at Beech Bend and at his home,,,, Many great stories about his past racing experiances on his front porch . I tried to buy his 66 tri-power car also. His red 70 car had a W-27 rearend under it when it was hit ,,,bought a few parts off of it . Wish I would have stayed on the former Dover car, seems like it only showed a few miles on the odometer , conversations with Bill will be remembered for a long time...

the car had only a few miles on it. when jimmy ordered the car he ordered it as a w31 at request of dover.he raced it from day one he only put a few miles on it to break it in.while driveing it the fuel pressure line broke and caught on fire under the hood burning off the factory screen. verry small damage under the hood.jimmy raced it for a wile then sold it to dover and as they say the rest is history.i should have bought it and allmost did.i am still very close friends with jerry jr he is like the little brother that i never had.we talk every day.i worked for dover sr for 10 years before i wen't in business for my self.and the origonal owner of that car was jimmy butler another close friend of mine.he passed away 3 years ago from agent orange he was a nom vet he was a tail gunner during nom.

Ive got the trunk off that red car. Rust free but warped. still original paint and pin stripe. Its on my 71 442 beater. I remember the red car circa 1980 at a small car show at the Bowling Green Walmart. Show consisted of maybe 10 drag cars from the area.

Bill Hudson's old rust free warped trunk.

1971 Olds 442 for sale by the way. Click on link below for more info.

I remember the ex Dover and then Bill Hudson brown car had a sign on the dash. " When the green flag drops the BS stops". Also a license plate " Lee surrendered but I didn't." Seems like the dash on either the Red or brown car or both didnt have any ac or vent holes. Most of the time these non air cars have vents in the dash but this dash was filled in. Both cars had black interior I think.

[QUOTE=vistacruiser67;360369]I Seems like the dash on either the Red or brown car or both didnt have any ac or vent holes.

I recall seeing some dash pads without vent holes, maybe in an F-85 post (sports coupe) car.

I saw a Silver 70 w-31 f-85 in a Classic Sixties magazine back circa 1983 that didnt have any vent holes. At the time it was a 15k mile original. Moon hubcaps and original tires. Black stripes. It may have made it into other magazines at the time.
