Thats my next questions...is it possible to change flat top pistons to dish pistons or is that major surgery? the motor im looking at is a 305/150hp motor and has the all the same numbers and everything for the 84 olds except the pistons are flat as i said and the 84 has dish top so i thought maybe i could just change those but i am just a hired gun so i dont know any technical info about it.

Assuming you are for real, let me tell you it's about $20,000 to $40,000 more complicated that just switching a set of cast pistons in a motor! But seeing as you are a professional hit man, money shouldn't be a big problem. No? Jim

If the blueprint specs. call for a dished piston (and I'm sure they do), then it has to be dished piston. No if's, and's or buts.

Are you sure the motor you're looking at is a flat top motor? Because a '82 - '84 Camaro 150 HP is a dished piston motor.

If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask. That's the 0nly way you will learn. Not everyone here is a wise guy.

Flat top 305 was a Z 28 or Trans am option 82 - 84 years, I believe. Is this a stock eliminator prepared motor your looking at ? ---Trevor

If you're really serious save yourself a lot of money grief and aggravation and contact Tony Fillipone he is a member here. He has three race cars and last year was trying to give away his 1.00 under P/SA Cutlass 307 Olds roller motor ( not Chevy 305 ) for less than he paid me for the motor.
