I recall he had one of the early (Line-Lok) devices which consisted of a big ole steel rod, pivoting from the dash and applying the brake in the water box and at the line. Wow...that was a long time ago!
The speed secret he shared with me was..."launch at float & go through the lights at float. That's how to make a small motor/big car to work". I never forgot it.
