It better be set back ... with a 116 " wheelbase..
Probably a good reason why you don't see any.

Mark,
Do you think NHRA would be OK with the factory installed (optional) swivel bucket seat? Maybe a swivel Kirkey. That would be a first!

But they didn't have much front overhang, and big tug boats bumpers hanging off the front either.

Way back when I worked for Mission Chevrolet in San Gabriel, Calif. around 1979-1980. We always had a few demo cars to use for customer loan cars. One of them was a 1980 Monte Carlo with a turbo 231 V-6. It was a nightmare to work on, but was rather fast. They made only a very few of them that year, and I think they were in the 1981 lineup. Probably a genius that thinks out of the box could get one to work in Stock. It seems the Buick Regal turbo V-6 came out a bit later.
A car I had for a driver for several years was a red, black interior and vinyl top 71 Monte Carlo 350 4 barrel car. It had a fan shroud that looked like a black plastic trash can with the ends cut off. The wheel base on that car was extended by moving the front frame crossmember forward several inches and extending the frame horns where the core support and front bumper bolted on.The drive shaft was the same length as a Chevelle, so the extended wheel base was only to placate the long hood and front fenders. Talk about a setback!! Always wanted to try a 402/300 horse in that thing for I or J. |
