I believe the power plant used for those station wagons were the 389 4 barrels. I have a picture of that white SSer doing a wheel stand in the early 70s. Can you imagine? Unported and all in SS/U?

We had a 66 389 Catalina Wagon, pulled our speedboat no truck needed.

I wish I wasn't a first generation racer, because these kind of "sleeper" racers were all around me from when I bought my first car in '75, to when I bought the Z24 ('93), and they would've been much easier (possibly cheaper too), to campaign and more inline with my late '70s level of auto mechanics training. I'm keeping my options open....

Gary, yeah a '65 Coronet station wagon or just a regular '65 Coronet sedan or hardtop would be a lot cheaper to build that buying a real '65 A990 car...as for the engine combos, I guess they came with anything from a 273 318 361 383 413 426 wedge small block to big block engines...theres still a few sitting abandoned in farmers fields or stored in a barn somewhere's...maybe put out some 'wanted ads' on a few different websites just to see whats out there.

Yes it was an awesome weekend! The somewhat cheaper fuel prices made this weekend's 500-plus mile trip a little more bearable. Towing a 2500 pound trailer loaded with a 4200 racecar behind a 454 Suburban isn't economical, but it sure is FUN! (Just don't EVER buy fuel in Emporia, VA! Serious overcharge!)

All-in-all a great road trip! The best of both worlds, car shows and drag racing! I just wish there were more than 52 weekends in the year.

Thanks again for your help on Saturday! Hopefully someday I'll be able to reciprocate!
