Default Autometer Driveshaft sensor magnet question

I've had the autometer playback II tach with the driveshaft sensor for the last 3 years and a few races ago i lost the magnets going downtrack. I just bought the racepak collar with the magnets embedded so I wouldnt have to mess around with the autometer way of JB welding magnets into the driveshaft . However, autometer sensor requires the south side of the magnet to face up and the racepak magnets have north side facing up so I'm not getting any reading. I think I will have to get a racepak sensor but don't know if this will hook up to the autometer tach harness. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Wouldn't it be just easier to get an Autometer slip collar?

I use a MW collar with my Ultimate II Tach, works great, they are captured and can't come out .

Yeah, they won't stick to my carbon fiber.

Racepak magnets are SOUTH side out. That is what most hall effect sensors need to trigger. Is the Auto Meter a 2 wire or 3 wire sensor?

I didn't know autometer made a slip collar and other racers told me about the racepak collar so that's what I ordered. It turns out I had a bad sensor, I tried another Autometer sensor and it fixed the problem. Yes the racepak magnets are definitely south side facing out and everything is working fine now. Thanks guys.

Autometer does make collars they have a universal one that you bore to what ever you need, it is hard to find I dont think it is on the website. Got mine for a 9 inch ford years ago from summit. If this is on your fox body here is what i did on mine. Got some magnets online the little super magnets 1/4 round, drilled my rear end yoke glued in with a 2 part expoxy. Mounted my sensor off a braket one of the holes in front of the rear end. Hope this helps. Here are some autometer collar #
