How about Indy...you could contact NHRA to see if one could be held in conjunction with the US Nationals, or just do one on a another date when the track isn't in use.

The reunion in 2008 was originally based around the 68 model year as the 40th anniversary, this started out to be 68s then it snowballed into everything with a hemi and as a result was a great success, maybe a reunion for the 50th for the 68s in 2018 would work out as this format has worked in the past and run the same way and have it all hemi cars ,once again the 2008 reunion was an awesome event hard pressed to be duplicated ever but sticking to a proven path may be more successful,I was at the 25th 68 reunion at carlisle and the 40th in Ohio ,they were both successful and based around the 68s,this is not to downplay the 64s,65s ,or other special interest hemi cars but its just a suggestion as what has worked in the past ,Pennsylvania or Ohio would be good ideas for location, once again just sticking to what has worked in the past, unfortunately Dick Towers is not with us this time around ,pretty hard to fill those shoes but a thought out event I am sure would make him look down and smile.I realize 2018 is quite awhile from now but you dont put an event like this together very easily and would give more time for it to be properly done ,this is the only way in my opinion to reach the success of the 2008 reunion .

Sure if it was for the '68 models only...but were talking 50th Anniversary of the "426 Hemi motor"...Daytona sure would be nice place too, since the 426 Hemi Plymouth & Dodges set it on fire back in 1964.

I sent a message to the editor at Mopar magazine. I'll see if there is any response from Ma Mopar before exploring other venues. It might be cool to have it at Chrysler HQ? I think I'll stick to probing companies with some pockets to fund such an event. They would have their PR people to promote the event as money and human resources (time) seem to be the limiting factor from what people are saying.
Everyone can feel free to persue whatever event time frame/location they see fit. I don't have any desire to ramrod anything through and multiple people raising the idea might make it catch hold quicker and/or better.

held at a more modern facility...maybe a "Mega-Plex" and left the show really not feeling being "back in the day?" Perhaps that "feeling" is not important for some of us but..... Not trying to "knock" the upgraded and fine facilities of today...and of course the larger venues mean a potential for MORE $$$$...more entries and more "fannies" in the seats... Places like Cecil County...Island Dragway...and Old Dominion...have a "nostalgic" tie to the Match-race past...as do other tracks all over the nation. Where does one start with ideas...and should the emphasis be on QUALITY rather than QUANTITY? |

James, have you been in contact with any other people, magazines or any other companies that might want to help out or sponsor this event...I'm thinking maybe some members here can make a small list some of them off the top of their heads...because any corporate help is better than leaving it up a few individuals that might be burnt out or don't want to attempt another one...just sayin'.

Moose, I'm waiting to see if Ma Mopar responds. Right now I don't want to get a bunch of competing entities trying to get their own reunion going. If I don't hear anything from Mopar, then I'll try somebody else. I think Mopar could get some good PR out of it and promote their current "Hemi" engines. Maybe Mopar will come out with a new supercharged Hemi for the DP Challengers for 2014 and that would be a neat tie in to the 2nd Gen Hemi.
