The dyno pulls were in the 8,000 range I seem to remember a little over 500 flb in torque and a hair under 800 in HP. I did a lot of the block prep and boring but Zul did every inch of the heads and manifold with his bare hands. We had a home made flow bench, but it did the job.
Paul , Comp racer Emil Eckroth still has one of those Zul engines setting under a bench in his shop!
I used to get my machine worK done by K&G, Radar corp. back then , I remember Radar always had a bunch of 348 cranks ready to go into the crank grinder.
They did a few with the stroke down to 3.15 for a couple of Modified guys which gave about 358 to 366 depending on the bore.
The valvetrain was the limiting factor on those engines. Big valves ,hi rpm and valve springs that Stockers run now !
we broke quite a few rocker bosses off the old 074,077 heads.
I still have the AFR heads from that motor on my spare S/G engine, with 5/16" stem Ti valves in them.

The same fellow owns Warrens last winning Performance parts GTO also. He has ran the Superman car ( First pro stocker to run over 200mpk) in comp as a B/AA.

Being a Ford guy I was never a WJ fan but he did come over to our Motorhome in Brainerd in 1976 and drink some Canadian beer with us. We were there a day early to spectate and ended up helping prep the track for testing. He was very cool as were the security guys that didn't kick us out that weekend.

Later on I got to appreciate his work ethic and tenacity and love his outspoken comments whenever he thought something wasn't right. I have another story about nitro in his oil pan but will save that one.....

I don't have any good pics, as I lost them all on my old computerwhich I need to get fixed.
But....., I do remember going to the SummerNationals at E Town in like 1990, when it was in July, and it was 300 degrees at 9am, lol.
We were walking into the pits and walked right over to the Pro Stock pits past the entrance. There is 3 or 4 guys screaming and yelling atWarren as he's wrenching his car Sunday morning. They are calling him every name in the book and then some. They were Mopar boys fans and spent the day harassing him between rounds. We gota good laugh. Don't rememberwho won, but it was a spectacle those couple of loons. They'd be tossed rather fast these days.

Any chance that this was more like 1995 after the Wayne County Speed Shop was "broken into in the middle of the night" and the entire entire Mopar Pro Stock cylinder head and block program was mysteriously sledge hammered to death? I seem to recall that the "perpetrators" spray bombed a corporate GM symbol on the walls which read "see you in E-town".
