Well, the orange 69 Camaro Kevin has was at one time blue, which car it was and who owned it is something I'll leave to others to decide. I know Steve Calabro was the first person to tell me it was once his, or his and Joe Fasano's. I think one of the Ficaccis, Mike or Dave, or maybe even Steve, also told us about the car's past. Anthony Bertozzi told us that he had bought it from Ken Bugaj. Ken has also contacted us and told us it once belonged to him. Also, both Arnold Greene and Mike Heintz told us some of the history of the car.
In any event, it has two class wins at St Louis, a runner up at the 2011 St. Louis race, and tow class wins at the Bowling Green SportsNational Open.

This Wally Clark (FJ Smith) built SS/GT camaro was one of the first 5 GT cars ever built.
Is this the same car (see pic of Joe Scott's camaro below)? Where did it go after Wally had it? ![]() ![]()

I sold this Corvette after the 1977 season to a guy in Chicago. I know it was still in Super Stock in 1979. Does anyone know what happened to the car? Thanks

Thanks for this thread, Tommy
I built this 66 wagon in 1977 from a street car that was given to me by my lettering guy, the late Billy Mocarsky. Later that year ,with the de-factoring of the 283, and the addition of a third seat, I was able to put the thing into R/Stock ,were it was capable of running under the index just about anywhere. For those guys new here, that was a really good situation back then. We set the R/Stock record three times in 78, won the Orlando WCS and finished 3rd in the division. By 1979, I decided to try Super Stock again. I converted the car to a powerglide for it's new owner, Frank (The Wagonmaster) Tantillo. The second pic it at the 79 Winternationals. (recently forwarded to me by Dave Kommel) Frank painted the car two tone blue, and finished 2nd in the Connecticut Dragway points that year.(1980) I think I know where the car is now, but maybe Gary or Barry Parker can fill us in from 81 forward. ![]() ![]()

In comments of a Bob Rice pic (of the car as Dick Henry built it) on Facebook, Ron Morehead confirmed to me that this is the same car. I'm pretty sure it was the first GT Camaro built, but not sure if it's the first GT car period ....

Did anybody notice the headers coming out at the FRONT bumper ? He ran this car at Kinston Dragstrip when it was originally built...
