Re: window net certification
Speculation on my part only, sure hope not but if they nick us for just a window net then I'd say we got lucky compared to past years. I can't handle too much more enhancement.

Re: window net certification
When are we as racers going to stand together like the stockers and super stockers did years ago about the muffler deal and let NHRA know enough is enough. In the grand scheme of things, window nets aren't expensive, but it is BS that now we need to replace them. What could possibly be the reason for that other than the manufactures got together and greased someone's palm. The economy is tough so lets get this rule passed and boom, look at all the sales that are going to be pouring in if these people want to race. Sadly, I know the answer, We NEVER will.

Re: window net certification
Chuck,
I share your and support your issues with NHRA and I read the update on NHRA, Does this mean that if you currently have a 27.1 Ribbon Net that it needs a re-cert every 2 years beginning Jan 2012?

Re: window net certification
I contacted both Stroud and M&R, existing nets cannot be recertified, they must be replaced. I'm sending mine back so they can duplicate it. I would feel alot better about the belts and nets if it was 5 yrs. 2 is ridiculous!

Re: window net certification
I would be very interested in seeing the test data they have to support their 2 year use requirement. As with most things that need servicing or replacing typically they are subjected to varying types of testing to determine their service life. I've long believed that for a door car the certs. should last 5 years, the open cockpit cars allow UV, and weather in general to effect the belts. Don't want to upset the guys with open cars just stating my beliefs. Joe

Re: window net certification
I got an e-mail that says since it's a custom net it will be $80 to recert.. I think it was that new.
Here's the e-mail. <FONT color=navy size=2 face=Arial><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; COLOR: navy; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">The lead time to have window nets recertified is about a week and the cost is $80.00 as you said it was a custom net. Our nets leave here with a 27.1 SFI rating on them. |

Re: window net certification
I have been using a mesh net so the two year deal doesn't really affect me much. When I switched to a mesh net I used a company called Team Tech Motorsports. They had a good price and fast turn around. If the other shops are busy you might give Team Tech a try. When I ordered mine, I think I was talking to the woman who was actually going to make the net. It fit perfectly.
