The 1957 Chevy's were not the only sharp looking cars from that year,,,
In NHRA 1968,,, How about an H/SA 57' Pontiac Star Chief, with the 'Race-Ready', 347/317 HP 'Fuel Injection' engine. A 'Potent Poncho' for H/SA (11.50 - 11.99 wt/hp) in 1968. 13.40's @ 103 MPH. This photo is from the 1969 NHRA World Finals, with the Pontiac upped to I/SA. Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 10-21-2011 at 11:25 AM. |

I didn't go to my first dragrace until '68 at the "tender" age of 15. That was at Puyallup Raceway, which closed in'78. Looking at the schedule in div.6 back then, I'm surprised to see that Arlington hosted 3 of the 6 races that season. I've been to most of the tracks in our division here,, but Arlington was one I never got to see,,,not sure when it closed.
Been going to Bremerton since '73,, even do the announcing out there. Thanks for posting that schedule,, Paul,,, very interesting. Danny Durham |
