I have to go with the max wedge, few years ago Dave Wren was warming his "thrown together" car at Mission and I was absolutely mesmerized.

I was hooked on stock eliminator because of the radical sounds of the stocker grinds. One of my personal favorites was late 1980's @ Sanair, the Le Brun 427 A/SA Camaros. More recently Jim Boudreau BB '69 Camaro has a nasty growl to it.

I think the FI cars have the wildest sound, be it TPI305, 350 or LT1. They sound outrageous. My ZZ4 sounds pretty good too with it's square lobed hyd roller.

Nothing sounds better than a Max Wedge at idle......super bad, and then to hear one singing at about 6500 rpm as it goes down track....beautiful!

Yesterday I finally got my Maxy down the track in less than eleven seconds and it lived to tell the tale! When it idles it sounds like a purring tiger then pull his tail and hold on!
Phil Marvetz, prince that he is, let me drive his record holding V/SA slant six wagon at the NW Nats a couple of years ago. It sounded like an angry leaf blower. In a cool sort of way. Chris Barnes Wagons of Steel Stock 6621 |
