Question Re: Need some input for a 2bbl problem

What temp were you leaving at?

My 283 is a 10th slower at above 140 temp and feels like two slugs instead of its normal one....

I say Billy hit it ,the way the air was there 2bbl car definately would been rich with no changes, rich will not let car crank rpm ,plus converter could'nt flash as high as normal due to power down from air.
How much air hurts mid to higher class stocker, add more if you have 2bbl.,smaller the carb the worse it gets.
Danny
If water temp is that sensitive you may be a shade lean if that little water temp effects you that bad,as temp goes up engine leans more

You might also check fuel filters and fuel pressure.

with all the two bbl cars I have run I would think more timing would help the car out and be a little less sensitive. I have run 273 2 bbl cars in 10000 foot air with 24 barometer.

Cold engine needs more gas so warm engine needs less.
Cold engine needs more accellerator pump squirt or it bogs.
Think "choke".
Or am I missing something?

A long time ago my bracket car ran flat and missed in the upper rpm ranges when the Holley 4 barrel was jetted several steps too rich - at least 4-5 numbers.

Wink Re: Need some input for a 2bbl problem

Sam check/add timing. @ Indy Div. race in 2007 I had dad's car with the bracket engine. Car ran 16.25 on a 15.80 index. I told dad over the phone "it's lazy I think it needs timing" He said it won't pick up .3. Well I turned it up the next morning & the car went 15.802! The next weekend we had a Div. race @ Columbus ( i took the 1.82 glide out & put in the 2.08) the car went 15.60...something. Anyway car wouldn't start @ the scales....checked timing 50degrees total!!!! But couldn't start the car once it got hot. I always run 40 degrees in everything else. (BTW had 32 in car @ indy)

Normally I would run more timing but I backed it down after the issues started. Everything going back to normal and taking the car to the local test and tune Wednesday.

Myron,
I don't see where you missed anything, as engine gets warmer it becomes leaner, colder engine becomes richer.
