The fact is that anyone in the country could walk in any chevy dealer in the country and order a 1970 LS 6 convertible. As long as you could pay for it.

John Tedder's 1969 GTX Hemi convertible was the top SS/EA car in early 1970,,,,,,, John won the SS/EA class at the; 70' Winternationals 70' Gatornationals 70' Springnationals John was also the Super Stock Eliminator Runner-Up at the 70' Gatornationals. There is a link above to view the 69' GTX convertible. Car painted blue front with a white back. The front half of the convertible top was painted black, and the back half white. pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 08-04-2011 at 07:05 PM. |

![]() ![]() Why would Chrysler go through all the trouble to make an illegal SS/EA car,,,,,,,,,,and purposely lose if they made it to the Class Finals,,,,,,,, And if everyone knew it was a 'cheater car', you would think the NHRA techs would have gotten wind of it,,,,,,,and DQ'd the car, before it ever hit the staging lanes at INDY in 1970.. Back then,,,a simple P & G gauge test would answer the question as to whether a 512 cubic inch Hemi was installed. And, a simple lift of the rear deck lid,,,,and most good techs would be able to tell if there was added weight. Stories of a lead-filled wing weighing 150 lbs........Really,,,,,,,, pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 08-04-2011 at 08:39 PM. |
