![]() ![]() The 1968 driver side ball-joint/lower control arm (straight unit). This was the problematic unit installed on the early BO29 and LO23 Hemi Super/Stock cars. It was replaced by the angled-arm unit. This straight unit did not allow for proper trajectory of the steering, as the cars would tend to over-steer at high speeds. The later cars were equipped with the newer units. The angled control-arm/ball-joint units would slow the steering.. The early cars shipped out with the straight arms, were later shipped the new angled units that were to be retro-fitted. Not everyone replaced the straight arm units.... pc Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 08-02-2011 at 10:49 AM. Reason: add-on |

Yes this is an original bo29 4spd car from ontario as raced by Frank Elliott, originally bought in Canada, the other car is an automatic car originally owned by Wayne Burke from Niagara Falls also bought new in Canada ,it was then then converted to stick and raced by Nick Minialoff under the drag dimensions sponsorship, then Beatty and Woods, and finally Brian Smith, the same Beatty and Woods that owned the motown missile 72 cuda.

Daryl/Paul,
You know I was looking at the pictures that I have of the Manhatten Speed Shop Dart and I noticed something. I always assumed that the car was in primer because the pics are B&W but the car is painted - as delivered the hood and fenders were black & blue gelcoat - the fenders are painted. Many of the early cars Shirley Shahan, Bill Tanner and others were originally shipped without hoods - you will see some pictures where the hoods look black. The hoods were shpped whenthey were available. Note that the Manhatten Dart has a black hood. Possibly an early car?? Daryl are you smiling yet? . I know that someone said that the car was a SS/B but I have seen nowhere where the car actually had a class designation on it. I think that this is a car that bears further investigation. Mark J |
