Great looking car! I still have my '71 340 Demon that I ran in Stock and SS for many years. I am the original owner and it has 15,003 miles on it. Jim

Thank you ! This one has 35K on it. Little old lady bought it, gave it to her daughter when she was already a little old lady, and then I got it from the grandson. Was 318, now its got a 5.9 Magnum engine I pulled out of the junkyard (converted to carb). It has run 11.70 @ 113-still got the factory bench and everything. Steve |

Wide apart two scoops were optional on 70 340 cars. Unfortunately no 71 or
later swinger with anything bigger than 318. 340 in 71 only in 108" Demon type Dart.....according to NHRA. A number of 71 Swinger 340 were actually builtbut only for export according to my memory but not NHRA accepted unfortunately. |

That's why I was trying to get a barometer on what I'd have to do to run this car as a '70 in competition. The sheet metal (except rear bumper) is all the same, but I was curious how concourse they get about side trim and emblem placement type stuff. Us civilians hear all kinds of horror stories about how people get kicked for not having the correct fog lights, but then you also hear that they don't do things that way anymore. It would be a real kick in the jewels to show up for a race and get kicked for a bench seat, or a non-rally dash, and its not like any of this stuff is in the rules. My interest is more in running the Chally than the Dart, I just wanted to get a theoretical case going. Thank you Steve |

Your hearing "horror stories" from the '60's & '70's.

As far as instrument panels goes, you have to have the correct one for a '70 Dart, not necessarily a Rallye dash instrument panel. I know a SS/AH racer who had to put a stock cluster in his Barracuda before it would pass tech.
