I never have used blinder, what I do is watch top bulb, see it go wide open, then move to bottom bulb, basically when I find it it's coming on,it helped me,I guess it does'nt give me time to think about anything else,I'm not saying I'm any good just that did help, except one time I was footbrake auto car and I matted it on top bulb that did'nt go well,I think I had .026 on .500 timer if I remember correctly.

I know people don't like to be on the 2step a long time, but you're virtually making yourself have TWO 'reaction times', 1 second apart. I don't know that that's conducive to consistency.

Michael,
Was you talking about my method going from top to bottom bulb? I think that is a good point of being two reactions.I run stick don't have 2step,my cars never have liked them they always go faster just using high side chip on line.I see guys w/sticks on limiter as soon as staged but don't really want to set on high side that long.
My method seems to calm me I see top bulb I know it's time to zing it then watch bottom bulb, if I don't do that I'm setting there reving engine longer the wait was, more anxious I would get, which screwed me up,so years ago I started waiting for top bulb and that settled me down and improved my driving.

I have two small bright yellow poster paper things taped to my roll cage with Duct Tape. Aabout 2 X 3, but my friends write nasty things on them while I ain't lookin. Especially the one for the right lane. Maybe it's a mental deal. Works for me.
