Whatever the indexes, I'd like to see two changes:
1) As long as the index is relatively arbitrary, pick a nice round number. Whoever came up with x.90 was just not thinking clearly. Ever try to explain to someone that 8.898 is a breakout but 8.989 is really slow? Make it x.00. A breakout is obvious. 2) Make the distinctions not based on body type, just on index. Let a dragster that can't make the SC index run in SG, and so on. Have three or four classes (say 7.00, 8.00, 9.00, and 10.00) and just say "run watcha brung". If you have to say that a driver can only run one of these classes to keep the sharks out of the tank, fine. My $.02.

If everyone thinks a timer makes it easy JUMP ON IN THE WATER IS FINE.
In the other classes all you need is a bottle of shoe polish. Leave them alone except do away with the Scotty Rule Chip Johnson |

I agree with Nitro Joe, There should not allow timers in a class that uses time as a base for the class

Hello All
Thanks for your imput, it was very interesting. It really appears that leaving everything the way it is, is the best thing to do. ![]() I am looking forward to this season. I just hope I can at least go a few rounds here and there. I hear there is a big learning curve in all 3 of these classes. By the way for anyone wanting to know. Hey Terry
Hows the weather down there. I'll be there during the christmas holidays, sure hope its warmer then its is here. BBRRRRRRRR in the 20s at night and only the mid 30s during the day. I guess I'll be running S/ST & H/R plus Brackets of course, at the famous MIR. ![]() Cal H/R 177X |

For all of you that want to eliminate timers, how do you propose we slow our cars down then? Run the stop the entire length of the track or use a high gear stop? Sounds like a huge step backwards to me.
I will admit that I agree the class is terrible for the spectators. But I honestly don't care. Our classes support themselves. We pay for everything with our entry fees. I race for me, not for the spectators (all 10 of them). I will also admit that I enjoyed racing T/S much more than the super classes. But we soon found out that after the class was contested for a few years it got fast enough that it took more money than I was willing to spend and more crew help than I had available. It was very fun going fast and having spectators interested in your class. But that all comes with a price. So far I have not heard any ideas on changes that I think will make any difference on spectators. Unless we do a 5' wheel stand or run in the 6's, most people wont care to watch us. Just my opinion.

I can go 170 in S/G and I would still like to see throttle stops gone. Why spend $25000 on a motor when you can run 9.90 with a sub $10000 motor. Same pay out less expense, makes sense to me.

Hello Again
I would like to thanks everybody for responding. Well it looks like everybody is kinda happy with the way things are. I personlly like the S/ST H/R class, but would like to see it as a back half only type class. But thats just me, Tube chassie type cars should be in S/G S/R. Again just my opinion. I've already got my New motor ready to go in the car, got a new throttle stop, new Mega 450. So now I just gotta learn how to make it all work. Looks like MIR has 2 events, Richmond should have 1 double header, and hopfully VMP will stay IHRA and have 2 events too. I'm sure there will be a few other events for my 2011 learning curve. So 1 last question, should I get out now while I'm ahead? ![]() Merry Christmas & Happy New Years to All ![]() Cal HR 177X |
