Ed,
You are in the finals of Indy. They run the Jet car before the finals. You gonna just load up and go home and not run the finals. Come on. I call B.S. on that. I'v run behind them before and actually found the track better, because they took the time to clean it. Chip |

I don't know about that Ed. you might have to get past me. Because of the new AHFS I might not be at Houston. ESP that time of the year when it is stupid fast. Seems like I could still run pretty fast in IHRA and not hurt any thing. I might have to run hot air races from now on.
As For: Quote: Beard, We heard the same talk Re: Bruton and NHRA. What's there to buy? Classification guides and tech spec sheets, some fuel check equipment, and most importantly, from a marketing standpoint, a mailing list. Other than that, "Sportsman Racing" is a *concept*. What truly makes sportsman racing is the customers themselves. I agree with Beard. I see very few tangible asserts for IHRA to sell. If they did fold I think it would be prime time for a US Class Racers organization.

Please answer this question racers. Why would a hardcore drag racer (not a car show/nostalgia wannabe) show up at a race that costs more to enter with the same purse not including contingencies and have to run 7-8 rounds to win? Where you could go elsewhere (another sanctioning body and it doesn't have to be IHRA) and run for the same money if not more and only have to run 3 rounds to win?
Can anyone make any logical sense in answering this question?

The only logical answer I can come up with is EGO.
Could be as Spock says "That is highly Illogical"

Michael,
Sadly enough I occasionally see this at the IHRA divisionals, which I can't comprehend. D3 is usually in the 18-22 range.

1 Entry fees for 2 cars, $350 vs $540. Advantage IHRA 2 2 day national events. Advantage IHRA 3 Running all day until the pro show. Advantage IHRA 4 Quality of pro show. I don't really care! Watched maybe 2 hours total all year... 5 Round money. Advantage NHRA 6 Final round money. HUGE Advantage NHRA (in my case) I attended the Mardi Gras Nationals in Baton Rouge this year. 39 stockers and 17 SS, so 6 and 5 rounds. Only 1 or 2 rounds less than NHRA nationals depending on location. I was runner up in Stock, and only had 10 contingency decals that paid. I know in your quote you asked not including contingency, but it's a huge consideration for some. So I won $2000 total, or could have made $4200 with a win. In contrast though, an NHRA national win for me is worth $12,000 in Stock or $14,000 in SS. There's my reason. Thanks |
