I'm with Bob. I never did understand why would anybody would limit a car to one sanctioning body's rules. It's nice to be able to run anywhere.

The whole idea of Crate Motor, and I guess Pure Stock, was to make it less expensive to participate in class racing while still maintaining blueprint specs to go by, like the conventional Stock classes have. Obviously it has its disadvantages. But many Crate Motor cars can be converted to regular Stock or Super Stock with not much more than an engine change. Unfortunately, it is the most expensive "part" of the car. Higher costs overall and more time off needed for the longer NHRA events would likely limit my participation there.

Considering the fact that IHRA isn't going anywhere, the discussion is moot.
But, if you want to get into it, crate motor and GT Stock can run Stock with little more than an engine change, Pure Stock can upgrade cam, etc and run regular Stock. Super Stock Production I believe could run SS/Modified or Modified Stock classes. ...and some of us bracket race our Stockers... ![]()

If IHRA were to go under I would hope that some of our more well funded class racers would buy what's left of the sportsman program. I think a sportsman only association would do just fine with the right leadership

As Michael Beard says, "IHRA isn't going anywhere". Even though I don't know him, I would consider him a reliable source.
