Don't know about this year, but when I was there last year there was nobody in the stands to watch them. Who is the show for?

Everyone should face the fact that we share the stage, not own it. Granted, it is about the show and NHRA will do things to enhance the show, even penalize the Pro cars if needed. Good example being today's annoucements on oildowns...
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...18628#indextop Like it not, NHRA and their tracks are going to keep trying things to improve the show and their gate. NHRA Unleashed is the perfect example of that and you can tell they are targeting the younger generation. The demographic of those who either race class or watch every class run down the track possible is a shrinking group indeed (of course we don't quite understand why everyone doesn't love it as much as we do). Don't think any business can survive that relies solely on current class car counts so we share the stage and do everything we can to mentor and encourage any youngster to follow our footsteps.

Ed,
I agree. I went to Atlanta this year and nobody was there to watch the: Leakers,Remote control cars,or the Classy racers. I'll bet someone told them if they added Nitro Harleys they would pack the place.LOL Chip |

800 cars doesn't put butts in seats.... Nitro Harleys does.... Not my cup of tea but it will put fans in the stands. That equals to jingle in the jeans of the track owners..... ![]() ![]()

Look at it this way guys, NHRA is paying Class Cars and racers a big compliment ! they know we only need 1 pass and we're ready to go. And you are right I'm sure Nitro Harleys' are a big draw, but only if they do some addvertising which NHRA normally doesn't do. I love to watch them run, and take my hat off to the guys ridding those wild Harleys.

I heard over the PA today that Short Line Express stores are giving away free tickets for tomorrow and if you have a ticket from last Sunday it will get you in free this Sunday.

Ed has hit the nail on the head, If you have ever been to a Div 7 race they could put two naked ladies running down the track side by side and there still would be NO FANS !!
not even in Vegas.....

I can give one reason there aren't many fans. I heard about the Wednesday S/SS combo race here on this site. My wife and I were in town for the SEMA show anyway so we thought we would go watch. I get to the track @ 1:30 in the afternoon Wed. hoping to see some of the later rounds of the shootout. The guy at the gate says no 1 day passes if you want to watch you have to buy a $75 weekend pass. I did not argue maybe I should have. I would have like to have went in but not for $150. I am quite sure the only people in the stands were other racers. This was a shootout not a national event.
